The WanderSearch tracking system is managed by WanderSearch Auckland Charitable Trust and is utilised by Police Search & Rescue and Auckland Land Search and Rescue to search for people living with a cognitive impairment who have wandered from their place of residence
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The system is comprised of a tracking device which is worn by the person living with the cognitive impairment. The tracking device emits a pulse using a specific frequency. The pulse is detected using a Radio Tracking Receiver and a Directional Finding Aerial. The closer the receiver is to the tracking device, the stronger the pulse will become.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
WanderSearch Auckland Charitable Trust does not charge for the tracking devices however a donation to requested to assist towards the costs of the program.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
The benefits of the WanderSearch Tracking System is that it gives peace of mind to the families and helps to reduce the stress on the wanderer. It also reduces the amount of resources required by Police Search and Rescue when searching for the missing person.
